Jasmine Benjamin's parents were initially told she died of natural causes.
VALDOSTA, Ga. -- Valdosta State University Police say they are interviewing more than a dozen potential witness in the investigation into the death of freshman Jasmine Benjamin from Lawrenceville.
Investigators are awaiting autopsy results before making a final determination about the death of a Valdosta State University freshman.
Authorities already have said they believe homicide is behind the death of 17-year-old Jasmine Benjamin, a Valdosta State freshman from Lawrenceville.
But a commander with the Valdosta Police Department, Brian Childress, said police can't call the case a murder until they get a final autopsy report.
Officials say it could be several weeks before that report is available.
The aspiring nursing student was found unresponsive on a couch in a study room. Authorities initially told Benjamin's parents she died of natural causes.
