DAWSONVILLE, Ga. -- Two people were injured when a propane tank exploded at a propane refurbishment facility on Easy Street in Dawsonville.

According to Deputy Chief Tim Satterfield of Dawson County Emergency Services, the incident happened around 6:25 on Wednesday evening.

Satterfield said three people were unloading a tractor trailer that had delivered approximately twenty, 250-gallon tanks of propane to the plant.  One of the tanks fell off the truck, rupturinig a valve, and somehow a fire was ignited, causing the explosion.

Two people suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns. Both were sent to Grady Hospital.  One was transported by helicopter, the other by ground ambulance.

Crews have contained the fire and Forsyth County HAZMAT was on scene Wednesday night as authorities continued to investigate.
