LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga -- Gwinnett County Police are looking for two suspects who they say robbed two people who were selling products on Craigslist. Both incidents happened on Wednesday, November 5, 2012 in the parking lot of Gwinnett Place Mall.
The first incident happened in the morning when a Lawrenceville man who was selling an iPhone, agreed to meet a buyer at the mall. When the victim showed one of the suspects the iPhone the suspect grabbed the phone and ran, according to police.
Later the same day a Lawrenceville man selling two pairs of Air Jordan sneakers was robbed by the same two men. But, this time, mall security cameras captured the robbery on video. "We were able to break this case so much faster because of mall security," said Det. Collin Flynn.
Police said the suspects agreed to buy the sneakers for $500. But when they met with the seller in the mall parking lot one of the suspects displayed a gun. "He told the victim to get inside of his car," Det. Flynn said. "The suspect grabbed the shoes and ran back to the (his) car and took off with the shoes."
The mall security cameras were able to pick up a license plate number on the car that led them to a suspect, Broderick Sellers. Sellers wasn't home went police went to his house but found one pair of the stolen sneakers and the first victim's iPhone.
Police have a warrant for Sellers arrest and are still trying to identify the second suspect in the robberies. Police are asking anyone who knows where Sellers is to call Det. Collin Flynn at 770-513-5436 or call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS(8477).
