Grady Hospital (Kevin Rowson)
ATLANTA, Ga. -- 35-year-old Atlanta Police officer Reggie Robinson is recovering at Grady Memorial Hospital after being shot in the face on Friday night.
According to authorities, Robinson was shot near the Krispy Kreme on Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard after he spotted what he believed to be a drug deal.
Officials say the shooting happened after Robinson confronted the suspects making the supposed transaction after which a foot pursuit ensued.
Currently, the officer is listed in stable condition and will be interviewed about the incident when he is able. The suspect was arrested and a weapon was located on his person however authorities think the officer was shot as a result of an accidental discharge.
Police are investigating the incident at this time.
