STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- The home and offices of DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis were searched Monday morning.

It began at around 10 a.m. in the Southland subdivision in Stone Mountain. Sources said the searches were connected to a special grand jury.

The search warrant that was executed was for a total of seven locations -- Ellis' home, the home of his former campaign manager Kevin Ross, and for five DeKalb County offices, including the purchasing and contracting, the county finance, IT and elections offices.

The warrant also named several companies, and noted they were looking at finances, credit card receipts, campaign contributions and vendor contract information.

Investigators left Ellis' home with one computer hard drive and several boxes. Ellis' 83-year-old mother was the only one home when the warrant was executed. She went next door while investigators were at the home, and was later taken away by a driver in a black SUV.

The raid comes the same day Ellis was being questioned a second time by a grand jury. The grand jury was investigating the Watershed Management Capital Improvement Program.

Ellis made a statement to the press at his office early Monday afternoon, saying that he didn't know what case investigators were looking for.
