DeKalb County, GA- Crews are working on a section of Clairmont Road near the DeKalb Peachtree Airport where a water main broke.
About a quarter mile of the road is closed.
Burke Brennan, Chief Communications Officer for DeKalb County, said a couple hundred residents and businesses are currently without water.
The county hopes to have water restored to the area by Sunday morning.
"We're working as fast as we can. We've removed the broken piece of the 30 inch main. Now we are installing a new section," said Brennan.
Motorists should be aware that Clairmont Road near 6th Street will still not be open for awhile, since crews will still have to fill in the hole and repave the road.
DeKalb County is in the midst of a $1.35 billion water/sewer upgrade and Brennan said that main is on the list to be replaced sometime within the next five years.
Brennan added that there was no construction in the area and because it is relatively warm for this time of year the water main likely gave out due to age.
