GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- Three people were killed and five more were injured in a five-vehicle wreck in Hall County Friday morning.
The accident happened at around 12:45 a.m. on Highway 365 North at Howard Road in Gainesville.
Gainesville Police Cpl. Kevin Holbrook said the wreck involved a tractor trailer, two SUVs, a pickup truck and a sedan. The tractor trailer caught fire and leaked fuel and oil onto the road.
The injured were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Their conditions range from serious to critical, Holbrook said.
None of the victims' names were immediately available. Holbrook said the number of dead could rise.
Investigators expect the intersection to be closed for hours Friday morning.
