Last week, a person was robbed with an AK-47 and last month the area saw two murders in a week.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Fulton County DA's Office, the Atlanta Police Department, members of the Atlanta City Council, the DeKalb County police chief and members of the Grant Park, Peoplestown, East Atlanta Village (EAV), Kirkwood and Chosewood communities.

The meeting peaked when the president of the East Atlanta Village Community Association described suspects in recent crimes as "criminals" and "killers." The mother of a 28-year-old murder victim, and others, objected to the harsh terms describing the suspects, calling them "children."

However, regardless of their differing opinions, residents were universally concerned with cultivating a feeling of comfort and safety in their communities.
Attendees of the meeting described the mood as a "coming together of communities" who want to "take back the neighborhoods."
Neighbors discussed the different measures they thought may improve safety around their, respective, communities. They, also, discussed installing cameras around the communities and banning together to form task forces against potential opportunities for crime.
