ATLANTA -- Tim Hudson is in the running for the Roberto Clemente Award, according to a tweet the Braves sent Wednesday.

The team nominated Hudson just weeks after he suffered a fractured ankle. The moment was called "hard to watch" by fans and the unfortunate fall put the Braves pitcher out for the season's remainder.
Comments flooded social media on the gruesome injury and well wishes for Hudson.
At the time of the injury, Hudson was a three-time All-Star with 205 career wins.
Hudson was born in Georgia and grew up a Braves fan in Alabama. In December 2004, he was traded from the Oakland Athletics to come back home to Braves country. He had served a nine-year tenure before the ankle injury forced an early closeout in 2013.
