DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- Emani Moss's short life was largely spent in the darkness of abuse.

Family, friends and well-wishers attended a prayer vigil to mourn the death and celebrate the all-too-brief life of the ten-year-old.

TIMELINE | The life and death of Emani Moss

Dozen attended the prayer service Tuesday night at the Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church in DeKalb County -- the church Emani attended with her grandmother. Her funeral will be held Wednesday at noon.

"We all should that Emani is a beautiful angel now watching us from above," Emani's cousin Brooklynn Kirkland told the crowd of mourners.

The little girl's obituary describes a child who enjoyed reading, dancing, cooking and making up songs.

Tuesday's vigil comes a day after Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter announced he may seek the death penalty against Eman and Tiffany Moss, Emani's father and stepmother, who are accused of starving the child to death and burning her body.

Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church is located at 4650 Flat Shoals Parkway.
