No foul play suspected in UGA student death

ATHENS, Ga. -- Athens-Clarke County Police said they discovered the body of a 22-year-old University of Georgia student Tuesday morning in Athens.

Police said the body of Rebecca Elaine Greene was discovered Tuesday morning in a creek on The Plaza off of West Broad Street.

Investigators said the last time anyone had had any contact with Greene was Monday evening at about 5:30.

Her body was found by police who were searching the area where here telephone was last detected.

Greene's body is being transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Crime Lab in Decatur for an autopsy and to determine a cause of death.

Along with the GBI, the University of Georgia Police is assisting with the investigation. 

On Tuesday evening, GBI officials concluded that there were no signs of foul play in Greene's death and that her death can not be called a homicide. Authorities are still unsure of how Greene died but they are certain that no one killed her.
