$200K FBI reward for suspect who killed officer

ATLANTA -- The FBI is currently offering a reward of $100,000, with a total combined reward of over $200,000, for information leading to the capture of this individual who is considered armed and extremely dangerous.

Acting Special Agent in Charge Ricky Maxwell, FBI Atlanta Field Office, requests the public's assistance in identifying and locating the individual responsible for the attempted armed robbery of the Bank of America, located at 2625 Piedmont Road.

On Monday, Dec. 23, at approximately 9:30 a.m., a lone male wearing a black ski mask and armed with a semi-automatic handgun entered the Bank of America and initially demanded money from a bank teller. 

The robber, unsuccessful in his robbery attempt, made the same demand from a customer at an ATM machine located in the vestibule of the bank. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money from the customer, the robber departed the bank without further incident. He was observed departing in a light grey vehicle, possibly a Chrysler 200, with no license plate displayed.

The robber is described as a light skinned male, race undetermined, wearing a black ski mask, grey/white striped long sleeve shirt, black gloves, light or grey tennis shoes/possibly Chuck Taylor Converse shoes, and a black semi-automatic handgun, possibly a Sig Sauer .45 caliber.

This individual is now believed to be the same armed robber responsible for the violent armed robbery of a Tupelo, Mississippi bank that occurred later that same day and the resulting ambush style shooting of two Tupelo Police Officers. Officer Gale Stauffer, one of the two officers, died of those wounds received by the robber.
