Severe weather slams into metro Atlanta

Weather conditions around metro Atlanta began to clear up around noon Saturday after a morning filled with heavy rains and strong winds. 

The storms, which moved quickly through the metro area, were responsible for flash flooding in DeKalb and Fulton counties and tornado watches in multiple counties including Barrow and Coweta.

According to Georgia Power, 16,000 was the highest number of customers without power in the metro area during the storm. 

In all, there were 40,000 Georgia Power customers without power statewide during and after the storm. 

In Acworth, strong winds knocked over a tree on to a mobile home, sending a 14-year-old girl to the hospital.
