BUTTS COUNTY, Ga. -- Police say an 18-year-old confessed to killing his grandmother with a bat after she refused to give him a ride to the store.
Butts County Sheriff Gary Long says JeNorman Bland admitted to killing his grandmother Tuesday.
Deputies found the body of the woman, identified as Glenda Smith Woodard, around 7 p.m. inside her home on Dub Walker Road just outside Jackson.
Sheriff Long says Bland went to his grandmother's house to ask for a ride to the store to get cigarettes. She said she couldn't because she had to work.
That's when Bland reportedly went outside, got a baseball bat, went back inside, chased Woodard, beat and killed her.
Bland was arrested Tuesday in Griffin.
Relatives say Woodard was 61.
Long says Bland is charged with murder, false imprisonment, kidnapping and armed robbery.
Bland is due in court Thursday morning.
