Man fatally shot by DeKalb officer

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- One man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in DeKalb County on Friday afternoon. 

According to officials, the shooting happened shortly after 3:20 p.m. on 4000 block of Wilkins Station Drive in Decatur after officers were dispatched to the location. 

Authorities say the officer fired a shot at the knife-wielding suspect after he was approached by the man. The suspect was transported to a local medical center where he died. 

The officer was unharmed.
