Athens, GA. -- They're one step closer-but it's a huge step. After beating in-state rival Georgia Tech 42-10 Saturday, the Georgia bulldogs will most likely face Alabama in the SEC title game in Atlanta next weekend. If they win that game, it could mean a national title shot; their first since losing to Penn State in 1982. Some fans are already getting that old feeling.

"To take and know that we as Georgia bulldog fans are this close to capturing that feeling and that ring again, it's spectacular, it's hard to imagine unless you've ever been there," Gary Roberson said.

Gladys Mixon was in New Orleans for the last UGA title win in 1980. She said she can't help but look past Alabama. She's already made reservations for this year's title game in Miami.

"I was there when we beat Notre Dame and I was thinking it was a once in a lifetime thing and now it could be twice in a lifetime," Mixon said on her way to the Georgia Tech game.

Tech fans were not ready to wish their rivals well Saturday morning. They pointed to the strength of the Crimson Tide, winner of two out of the last three national titles.

"Even if they get past us, they'll never get past 'Bama," Dan Haelsig said.
