STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga -- Gwinnett County police are looking for the men who allegedly robbed two shoppers at a Walmart early Saturday morning.
According to Sgt. Randy Work, officers were called to the Walmart store at 1825 Rockbridge Road around 2:50 a.m. As they investigated, officers found out that two men robbed two shoppers in the parking lot.
Just a few minutes before, both victims, a 20-year-old male and a 35-year-old male arrived to the store and parked next to each other. The first victim walked toward the store, but was approached by both suspects, who demanded his keys, wallet and cell phone. The suspects blocked the victim from the front and back, while the suspect in front waved his gun at the victim.
The weapon is believed to be a semi-automatic handgun, possibly a .40 cal Glock.
The second victim did not know a robbery was taking place, and he also got out of his car and walked toward the Walmart entrance. The suspects approached him in the same manner as with the first victim.
They once again ordered the victim to give up his keys, wallet and cell phone. Sgt. Work said that the victim did not understand what the suspects wanted, and proceeded toward the store.
Then, the first suspect shot the victim in the back of his leg. Immediately, both suspects ran into the store to get away from the two attackers.
The suspects stole the car belonging to the first victim, and drove away from the scene. The car was described as a blue 2010 Honda Fit, with Georgia tag number PFE8356.
From watching Walmart security footage, officers determined the suspects arrived to the scene in a red Honda Civic. The car was left at the scene and officers determined that it was involved in a carjacking on Friday night in Atlanta. The Civic was impounded and held for processing.
Along with GCPD detectives, police found the Honda Fit on Friday night. They also found a handgun like the one used in the crime inside the car.
At this time, the only description available on the suspects is that they are two black males.
The victim who was shot was taken to Gwinnett Medical to be treated for his gunshot wound.
