UPDATE: Marvin the monkey found!

DALLAS, Ga. -- Three-year-old Jax has endured chemotherapy treatments since he was 8 months old. His stuffed monkey, Marvin, has been with him every day. 

UPDATE: Marvin the monkey was found just before 4:00pm Wednesday. Jax's mom, Kristen Foust, tells 11Alive News she and Jax walked out their front door and the monkey was sitting up on the porch. At first, they thought it was a replacement, since offers have been pouring in from generous people who read the story online. But the tag is frayed in a particular way and the sweater has loose strings where the "port" was take out.  "His little buddy is everything to him and just helped him through" his medical ordeals, Kristen said.  "I'm just so grateful that someone saw the urgency and saw the need to get them back together.  And for the community just to come together to help us.... and do everything that they could to help us find him is absolutely amazing, and I'm forever, forever thankful."

Jax lugged Marvin back and forth to the Aflac Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta as he battled Histiosychosis, a disease similar to cancer. When Jax had surgery to put in a port, the nurses at CHOA sewed a button onto Marvin's chest so he could have his own "port."

Monday, both Jax and Marvin had their ports removed. It was a celebration: the end of treatment!

The next day, Jax's mom Kristen Foust stopped at the Kroger store on the corner of Hwy 61 & 278 in Dallas. She went straight to the floral department to order gold balloons in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness month. When they got home, Jax thought he left Marvin buckled in their van. He wasn't there.

Kristen launched a massive search. Her husband returned to the Kroger to check every single car buggy. No Marvin.

"I know it's silly, we're talking about a monkey. But he's been with Jax through everything," Foust told 11Alive's Julie Wolfe.

So, after one last unsuccessful phone call to a very helpful store manager, she cried. Jax walked in and asked what was wrong.

"I told him, we can't find Marvin. And he just lost it," she said.

Kristen started posting pictures of the lost monkey on Facebook. She says the missing monkey post has been shared by friends and strangers. She admits it's just a toy. But to a boy who's been through a lot in his short three-year life, it's a pretty important one.
