1 dead in shooting incident at Hairston Crossing

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- One person is dead after being hit by a car at a grocery store in Hairston Crossing near Decatur. 

According to DeKalb County authorities, one man was shot and another was struck by a car during the incident that happened around 8:50 p.m. on Wednesday evening. 

Authorities say the incident began in the Publix parking lot and ended in front of a nearby Walgreens pharmacy. 

Lieutenant Antonio Catlin of DeKalb County Police said the man struck by a car dead on the scene. Catlin was not sure whether the man had been shot before being struck.   

The surviving victim was transported to a local medical center and is listed in serious condition. Authorities are unsure of the circumstances surrounding this incident, at this time. 

No further information was immediately released.
