MARIETTA, Ga -- Police feel there is a good chance they will be able to identify a suspect who raped an adult woman in a taxi cab on December 5, 2013 at around 4:30PM.
The suspect has very distinguishable characteristics and was driving a very distinguishable car, according to Marietta police. "He has a tear drop (tattoo) on his left eye and a scar over his right eye," said Officer David Baldwin. "He also has a tattoo of a large bird on one of his forearms in bluish/green ink and the bird has distinctive red eyes."
Ofc. Baldwin said the woman was walking along Lake Drive south of Roswell Street when a cab pulled up next to her and the driver offered her a ride. "She got into the car and then the cab driver brandished a firearm and sexually assaulted the victim inside the vehicle."
The woman described the car as an older model white Ford Crown Victoria with a red company label on the side.
The victim was allowed to leave the car after the assault. She said the car drove south on Lake Drive toward South Marietta Parkway. She described the man as Hispanic, about 6'2" tall and about 40-45 years old.
Police released a sketch of the suspect to the media on Wednesday.
Ofc. Baldwin said they are not sure if the suspect worked for a legitimate taxi service.
