The potential for the metro area to see some accumulating snow is looking more and more likely for Sunday night into Monday morning. A very powerful arctic cold front will move into the heart of the nation and bring with it the coldest air the nation has seen in over 30 years!!
Here is the setup:
Sunday afternoon will be a gray and rainy day with temps hovering in the upper 40's and lower 50's. The front will move through around 9pm and with it the temps will begin to fall and fall fast! We will see temps drop from 50's to the 20's rapidly! As this occurs we could see some lingering precip behind the front change to snow. At this point time totals are not entirely certain, but we could see some accumulations in the entire metro area!

Then the coldest air in over 30 years will move in and we will stay below freezing from Sunday night until Wednesday afternoon!! Highs Monday and Tuesday will be in the lower 20's across the entire metro area. Here is the biggie.....we will be getting down to around 5 degrees on Tuesday morning which would make it the coldest day since December 26th, 1983.
